PostDoctoral Researcher
University of California, Irvine
I am Babak Khorsand, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine, affiliated with the Neuroinformatics Lab and the Center for Design, Discovery, and Data Analytics in Neurological Disorders (3D-Center), working under the mentorship of Dr. Ali Ezzati. Since February 2024, I have contributed to high-impact research integrating machine learning, multi-omics, and clinical data to advance understanding of neurological diseases.
My work spans major initiatives including the RCARE study, where I helped develop remote cognitive assessment tools; the TRC LATE study, where I developed ecological momentary assessment (EMA) approaches and applied advanced analytics to investigate neurodegenerative biomarkers; and the MIND study, where I led smartphone-based cognitive tracking, demonstrated migraine phase–dependent cognitive changes, and developed machine learning models to predict next-day headache risk.
With a multidisciplinary background in bioinformatics and clinical research, I focus on translating computational insights into scalable, real-world tools for precision medicine.
