Niushen Zhang, MD, FAHS, is the Division Chief of Headache and Facial Pain at Stanford University. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology. Dr. Zhang graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. She received an MD from NYU School of Medicine. She completed neurology residency and headache fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Zhang has a special interest in complementary and integrative medicine for the treatment of headache. Her research is on migraine and its connection with the gut microbiome. She was previously the Chair of the AHS Complementary and Integrative Medicine Special Interest Section. She was previously Co-Chair of the Headache Fellowship Directors Committee, and spearheaded the design and creation of the AHS National Headache Fellowship Opportunities website. Dr. Zhang also serves on the program planning committee for the AHS Resident Education Program.
