Dr Holland is a translational neuroscientist who leads the preclinical headache group at King's College London. His research is focused on developing a greater understanding of the mechanisms underlying primary headache disorders to aid in the discovery of novel therapies. His current research is focused on developing a greater understanding of why more women get migraine, the role of our body clocks in attack susceptibility and the non-pain symptoms of migraine.
He graduated from Glasgow University before undertaking his PhD at UCL. He then worked at the University of California San Francisco and Edinburgh University before starting his own research group at KCL in 2013. When not leading the headache group, he is an active educator, serves on the editorial board for leading scientific journals/congresses, is the president-elect the European Headache Federation and was acknowledged as a leader in pain research by the medical research foundation.
